English was taught as compulsory subject since the establishment of the College in 1945. English Department came into its own in 1957 with the introduction English as Special subject at graduation. The department offered English (Subordinate) at Post-Graduation from 1959.From 1974 English (Entire) at P.G. Level was started by the department. Since then the department is recognized as a premier Post –Graduate Center. The Department has been catering to the needs of the students from mofussil area. At present, the department runs the academic programmes at F.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.A., T.Y.B.A., and F.Y.Bcom.in Compulsory English,; F.Y.Bcom and S.Y.Bsc Optional English, F.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.A., T.Y.B.A. ,in General and Special English And M.A. Part I and II with Entire English .
