- Historical Background:
- The Department of Marathi, came into existence in 1945 in the date of establishment of college, the department started its PG section in 1951affiliated to Bombay University Prof. M.V. Pathak laid down the foundation stone of our department.
- The Department of Marathi which took lead and gave a hand of help to organize the ‘35th Marathi Sahitya Sammelan’ in 1952.
- At that time many outstanding Marathi literary figures such Mr. K. P. Kulkarni, Mr. P. K. Atre, Mr. N. C. Padke, Mr. D.V. Potdar, Arjun Vhatkar, Heramb Kulkarni, Endrajit Bhalerao and many other visited the department.
- The number of staff members has today grown to 5 from 2 in 1951
- Objective of the Department :
- To develop love for Marathi Literature among students.
- To enable students to use Marathi Language as a medium for gaining knowledge.
- To inculcate values in students.

- The Department has its independent existence.
- The built-up area occupied by the department in 10sq.m.
