Establishment of Department: This department was established in the year 1952 as the Department of Botany with Professor V. P. Damale as its founder Head and Principal of this college. He has obtained Ph.D. degree in Algae from London University during 1949 to 1952. This department was initially housed in small area of the old college building, and then also Prof. Damale strengthened and flourished the department for U.G., P.G. with research.

Vision: Producing Botany students as ambassadors of sustainable development and leaving the Earth to the successive generations, as intact as possible.

Mission: To sensitize the Botany students on the classification, structure, physiology, ecology, genetics and molecular biology and economic importance of plants.

Message from Head of the Department: It is a matter of immense pleasure to welcome all plant lovers at the Department of Botany, Pratap College, Amalner (Autonomous). Department runs B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs in Botany. It is rich with all sophisticated and high-tech instrumentation facilities. Students from all over India come here for study and research purpose. Department regularly organizes workshops, conferences, seminars and symposiums for providing high-level academic exposure to the students. Department is always ready to support all type of academic and research activities to develop the nation.
