» Introduction | Department Microbiology

In 1997 microbiology subject was started in Pratap College Amalner. Previously academic activities started in zoology department at FY. B.Sc level. Since from 2001 microbiology department was separately established. First batch of UG passed out at 2003-04 ,from the year 2008-09 F.Y.B.Sc course sanctioned on Grant basis. Msc was started in 2008-09.   
Department has 5625 square ft.built up area. The department has well equipped laboratories with all necessary facilities to nurture students knowledge and make them competitive in research world.Department has Nexus Association ,as well as every year there is formation of MBSI student unit, through Nexus and student unit. Various activities are being conducted,Like poster and model exhibition ,Scientific Rangoli competition ,Booklet competition,Quiz contest, essay writing, fermented food festival, blood group detection camp ,social awareness activities.
Dept is organising different industrial /field visits every year for providing students,the real working environment of industry. Curricular ,co-curricular and extra curricular activities makes student capable to think critically and build up leadership skill
